What the pre-flight report tells you

The PDF is the easy half. These are the findings that decide whether a submission is returned before anyone reads it, and every one of them is computed from your own document.

Abstract length against your target's limit, counted in words, with the number to cut.
Figure resolution in dpi at the size the figure is printed, not the size it was pasted at.
Uncited references and unresolved citations, both of which publishers treat as errors.
Missing declarations: funding, competing interests, data availability, generative AI use.
Floats without captions, never referred to in the text, or referred to out of order.
Anonymity leaks in a double-blind submission, including self-citations in the first person.
